Unregistered 06-04-2022 11:46 PM

This is referring to the merit increment or the additional salary adjustment?

MX11A to 10, holding DD post.. 8.45%.. not even sure how they calculate.. $108XX.

but I am an old folk already, past 55 very soon. :(

My career path is typical for a lucky farmer. I foresee just one more promotion to MX9 as a consolation prize before retirement.

The cap for MX11A is 8555. How did you get to 108XX right after promotion?

Unregistered 07-04-2022 11:27 AM

Got promoted from mx11a to 10. The Increment is less than 10%. Is this normal? Seems low compared to private industry...

Unregistered 07-04-2022 11:40 AM

MX10, PB Grade: B, Salary: $9.5K (MI 5.3%)
MI percentage seems lower this year - because of economy?

Unregistered 07-04-2022 11:56 AM

B grade. Promo from 11A to 10. Increment about 8-9%. $68xx to $74xx. Seems like I'm quite low for a 10.

Thanks. I've been in both civil service and private sector. I think it's quite clear that any increments are much more measured in the former. But then again, there are companies in the private sector with no increments at all when times are bad.

unfortunately the general scheme is now quite lagging behind tech scheme. an equivalent position is taking in 11xxx-13xxx

Hmm, DD at 9k to 10k only? Coupled with 16 mth package is just 150-160k. Quite low leh

Yes, before MI. I’m 36yo already though. In Ministry. Is this considered normal or slow progression?

Explain yourself

Unregistered 07-04-2022 09:37 PM

Is promotion increment and MI separated?. if PI is 9% and MI is 5%.. means total will have 14% increase in pay?

Assuming you started work only at 25yo (male) or 23yo (female), you would have been 11yrs or 13yrs in service moving from MX13 to 10. Considered fast in some bigger ministries like MOE because promotions are harder where there’s more people competing

Hi, I’m the other guy. LOL. The reason I asked my question was because I have noticed peers around the same age/substantive grade have quite wide variations of progress and even when on the same grade, the salary range is diverse. I’m a farmer, not scholar. But considered playing a specialist role in my ministry

only economists are real specialists in gov

many "engineers" in stat boards are paper pushers

there're some exceptions here and der

Certainly quite a number variables. Ministry vs stat board, technical vs general track. There are also premiums at some agencies, notably the defence related ones.

MI 5.3%? Hmm. MX10 - 9.5k. How many years are you at MX10? Did you start as MX13 fresh grad? And how many years for you to reach MX10?
