Not necessarily true that you will know your promotion before pb.For both times I was promoted, once I knew it just a few days before 1 April (before I can see the merit increment) and the second time, I only found out at the same time as all other colleagues during the announcement in staff meeting.

HR will decide who will get promoted. Of course your boss will decide whether you are worth promoting before pitching how good you are to HR, HR will then questioned them why you deserve to be promoted. You will be pitch against a lot of other competitors from other departments. So it is down to two things apart from you working hard etc. Luck and how good your boss can fight for you. Not only promotion but as well as your performance grade. There are so many promotions and good grades they can give.
So don’t think that you work hard, boss give you good appraisal means a good grade or promotion is a guaranteed, there are a lot of many other factors thrown in.
Don’t give up is the main motto here.

How do you find out about your performance grade? I’m still in my 1st year, and have received a pro-rated performance bonus but am unable to locate my performance grade on pac@gov.

It only states the months of bonus, but not the grade itself :(

Read it line by line and don’t just see the numbers. It should be after your name and designation.

I think within first year unranked so no grade, esp if u join after Jul last year.

For those who got the same grade as last Yr, is the quantum the same as before? I got a B but the quantum is lower than what i have got in my previous rank. So am wondering how much is the cut.
