If you wonder why some people are very secretive about going on maternity leave etc, is because once other bosses hear of it, they can use that during ranking to steal the performance grade from your division.

Only in ranking you will know who are the "weak" bosses to steal grades from. Those that can't defend or don't bother to defend.

So their entire department will never ever see a B and above, always C or even D if maternity/paternity leave is touched.
what smoke is this? one is always ranked against peers(same grade) not same department

Hi, just want to ask for some opinions, if you are being offered a job to start in December, would you ask for a delay in start date just to get the bonus?

Felt like I did not think through so much in the job application start date (which for civil servant is preferably after our performance bonus like April or July) as I expected to fail. So, just asking out of experience, would it affect future applications if one were to withdraw from a job offer (have not accepted).

performance bonus are for your work in the previous year. i dont see any reason why you dont join in Dec. you wont get paid the performance bonus next year even if you delay. You will get paid in 2026 instead for your work in 2025.

For fresh hire, your appraisal will have to be at least for a 12 month period. Otherwise nothing foe bosses to base the appraisal on. This is something you can definitely check with the HR officer coordinating your interview. Do not give up a job offer so readily for something that can be easily verified with HR.

Then will we get our PB in April (same time as the rest), or only after 12 months?

wtf kind of **** is happening here.

You are ranked amongst your grade at each level. Usually it is within your own division/sub division depending on how big.

After a certain rank, some places around maybe mid-manager levels then it can go from your group or even cross-group for ranking.

So if your big bosses really don't like people from a certain group, they will suck thumb the rest of their life. Same for if they don't like a certain department/division. Then the entire bunch will just get C.
