Unregistered 12-03-2021 10:10 AM

Troller

Anyone can post anything here anonymously so don't be surprised by those who lives in the internet world just to troll and created fake news for their own amusement. Anyway PB's norm has rarely changed. So just wait till later part of the month and u will get it somehow if u r entitled to it. No point being trolled.

Unregistered 12-03-2021 11:22 AM

You should check with your boss and HR.
Also you need a boss who is willing to fight for your promotion. You are being compare across the board.

It is challenging if you are not the chosen/favoured ones. I know a new joiner getting B for first full appraisal, where the RO had to write long statement to justify. But for me, first 3 years RO can tell me i still new and a C grade is normal. 4th yr C+ she say very good liao, very few get B. 5th year back to C grade and she says she will fight for better projects for me next yr (i.e. 2020). Waiting to see what cock reason she will give for my 6th appraisal in a few days.

Hi,

I'm an asean scholar from Vietnam.
Currently studying in NTU on Track to FCH.

I would like to apply for a civil service position as a scholar but my Singapore friends told me civil service is only for Singaporean.

Is it true?

Can a PR work for the government?
I'm very interested to join govtech as I'm a strong in tech and a scholar.

Or am I denied the opportunity because I'm not Singaporean?

Unregistered 12-03-2021 02:26 PM

Denied.
Go serve Vietnam civil service after you fulfill your 5 years bond working in Singapore.
And thank you for paying 5 years of tax.

That's all. Enjoy your way back to Vietnam..

You have to pass the security screening first.

You mean every civil servant have to get security clearance?

I can't work for immigration office also?
So all civil sector is only reserved to Singaporean?

I have to work in private sector?

I believe some roles are open to foreigners (e.g. scientific research), but most positions require minimally Singapore PR. Those in in ministries and sensitive roles are usually open to citizens only plus you'll need to go for security clearance. I believe this is the norm for any country government, so it shouldn't be surprising. If you are really interested, suggest you get the answers directly from the horse's mouth. ;)

I'm still currently on student pass as I'm still a student.
So upon my graduation, I have to apply for PR and a job with the govtech.

Hope I get it thanks!

Promotion depends not only on consistent performance but also the number of years in grade. Equally important is the availability of post at higher grade.

Yes there is. Grade C is usually the base rate for each scheme of service. Different schemes have different base rate for C grade.

Interesting and also baffling to note that u have a certain thinking and expectation of things. Haha

CEP determines how far you can go in your career. CEP is a very blunt tool.

Min Chan Chun Sing announced that there will be a refreshed approach to this. if you are in CS, look up ‘Our Core Competencies’ in Learn@Gov to find out more.

Oh yes, I may be Vietnamese but I can assure you I blend in like a Singaporean.
Alof of people don't even notice I'm Vietnamese cause I been here since asean scholar sec 3.

So you can say that I have been converted as a Singaporean.
I plan to apply citizenship but that will come later..

I have plan to work for govtech cause I have internship there.
Yes if might come across as weird but I see Singapore as my home more than Vietnam.
I wouldnf want to go back to Vietnam after I experienced living in Singapore.

I also plan to sign up for SAF volunteer Corps to play my part and to counter the argument that foreigner don't have to serve NS.

I volunteer can?

It varies from grade to grade. Can be as short as three to five years to ten years. Usually not disclosed though.

Yes C+ and C have different quotas. For example, out of 100 officers, 50 will have C+ and above. The rest are C, C-, D and E. The percentage may also different within Ministry and SB.

Unregistered 12-03-2021 07:18 PM

U will need to convert to citizen first.
If u had served NS, the situation would have tilted in your favour.
Because u didn't, whatever u said below hold less water.
