Simple, C stands for Congratulations.

B stands for Barely make it.

A stands for Average.

D is the best, stands for Distinction.

C is what 50%-60% of the staff will get. so if you get a C, yes you were considered average during your last appraisal.

I meant that C is the norm for the first year. Was replying to a previous post. Wondering how common it is for a first year staff to get non C.

Even past your first year, C is very common. Anything higher is usually left for scholars.
