Operations 99% chance, they sit in harborfront like a factory of 2000 plus people. If you like a simple job, get your work and go home type of life, doing process improvements for very mundane processes that adds little value to the business, go for it.

haha hey thanks, I know my chances were already low to begin with... Which is why I said I wasn't optimistic. (for the London one, that was super LOL coz its like can apply then why not apply?? tbh would love to get out of sg)
Also yeah that's the reason why i applied for Ops cuz it seems to be the lowest barrier job to enter if i want to be in the banking industry. Would you say that this situation would be the same across all the banks though?

This is true even for mid tier banks sadly. Too much competition for good roles, and with ops being the function with highest turnover because everyone is generally unhappy there, your biggest chance is ops.

Application

Has anyone applied for DB WM?

Or has anyone received phone interview for dB?

I have completed my applications by the video interviews, but now I'm wondering if it's been too long. Recently received an email saying that one of my applications is under review. Does it mean anything, or is it one of those emails companies send to reassure us that they're still in the process of looking through all the resumes and video recordings?

Are there really that many applicants, or are their vacancies no more because of returning interns?

I applied for Compliance (London), Operations (SG) and Global Transaction Banking (SG) if it helps! Sorry for the many questions.

No finance background, no honors Econs major here who's graduating in December 2019. Any career/job applications advice will be greatly appreciated too. :)

BofA has been pretty late to the game this year... I'm not sure about transaction banking, compliance & ops but I can confirm that IBD has only recently started their interview process. As for Capital Markets I think they've yet begin.

I have seen 1 year, you need to be the best in a department. I've seen 4 years, where you just do your daily work and go home. More often than not, you need to be doing projects, process improvements outside of your daily ops grind before anyone would consider you for promotion. Do note that in the ops world, doing your daily work does not equate to adding value to the bank.
