From accounting to IT without background?

Hi guys i am 24 this year, and have a Diploma in Accountancy. Have been working at an accounting firm for about 2 years, and am interested in learning about the Cloud and if possible, getting a career in it. Heard about those online courses like AWS Cloud Practitioner certs, Azure, etc. But would they really be enough to get me a job, or would i still need to pursue a degree? Would appreciate if anyone who has experience in this could shed some light! Thank you! :)

From my understanding, just getting a cert in AWS/Azure will not get you a job in cloud computing. Usually cloud computing jobs require knowledge in other domains such as Devops, computer networking, operating systems, database... Furthermore, the Cloud Practitioner AWS cert is very basic and more for understanding purposes, not so much for job seeking.

If you wanna break into the IT industry, it is highly advisable to take a computer science/IT related bachelor degree, as the field is pretty competitive. In my opinion, cloud computing is not so beginner friendly also as it does not only involve AWS/Azure administration but requires a lot of knowledge of IT architecture/operations.

Thank you for your answer! :) Oh i wont just be getting the cloud practitioner certificate only, but also moving on to get the solutions architect associate cert and hopefully the professional cert!

Then before i really go into the certs, was thinking to self study Linux and Networking too as heard that having knowledge of them would help!

But i guess if a masters is required then im afraid the certs wont be enough by itself :/

Even with Prof cert but without experience, you will at most be able to get only a fresh grad role when you switch.
