Agree fully with considering pay on a per actual work hour basis. Though I don't consider commute to be part of 'work' per se because I use that time to read or catch up on Netflix. Having a immediate superior you can gel with is more important imo

That's nice... I can't stand commuting, after WFHing for so long I just can't go back to working in the office.
also your last point is true. i find it harder to gel with my team due to WFH. sadly this also means high chance i wont get my promotion fast lol which sucks but eh, i don't plan to stay long so it doesn't matter.

I'm the OP of this. To clarify, I have no prior work experience as a data analyst and my degree is unrelated (Engineering). I basically self-learned database languages and data visualisation tools and managed to do well enough for the test to get an interview with hiring manager. So, i wouldn't consider this a 'tech' offer but would lean more towards 'non-tech' in tech company.

here is my $0.02 if u are keen. i am also like u in an engineering degree but i managed to pivot to a tech role in a tech company. it is rly quite doable given the tech crunch rn. anyone can try for tech(but not everyone would succeed and it is by no means easy) i would say u should try to apply for more tech roles if u are keen. else good job on getting out of engin LOL

That's why 60k annual only. Once you get your foot in and can perform like your tech peers you'll be looking at 66-74k.

I’m sorry, but I know Shopee work-life balance all too well already. You definitely need to OT like mad (996 culture) in your junior years before you get to enjoy a more decent WLB lifestyle (10am to 7pm, 5 days) in your senior years, and all for what, 66k - 74k total compensation after graduation?
You work like siao (12 hours / day), which is 4 383 working hours annually and if I were to assume highest total comp, it’s like what, $16.80 / hr?

84k at least, not sure about the culture now since it's been a year since I left. Heard from juniors that it's better now. Their HR leads still a bunch of aholes trying to get attractive HR recruiters to honeypot tech recruits though.
