Because the chance of moving from big 4 corp fin to banks is almost 0.
Bulge bracket banks rather hire from other banks (for lateral) or interns (for fresh grads)

that is categorically false. go on linkedin you'll see examples of people transferring to banks/eb. even for BB, though I noticed is mostly for females, where obviously the bar is lower, but thats another topic for another day. But still, it is possible.

Actually it is true. Forcing the gender ratio to 1:1 is being biased toward woman.
Everyone say man woman equal, then why don't woman go to the army. Obviously there a inherent differences between men and women.
Nowadays, BB banks so many programs exclusively for women. These "gender bias" things are all rubbish and PR stunt!

I actually knew of people who made the switch. The pay and exposure are different, and it is obviously better to get that summer analyst programme then converted to full time. No shame in starting somewhere which pays lower. It is like ppl also shyting on SCB pay for fresh graduate, but SCB actually has a decent coverage in certain area in Asia.

continue telling yourself that lol. but if you are going to big 4 corp fin for to lateral to banks, why don't go to a bank directly? the 2-3 years in a big 4 corp fin could mean an opp cost of income of 500k at least... assuming all in plus bonuses an anlayst 1 in a bulge already ends 200k+

to add on.. this is high finance thread lol. Not for those losers who can't make it to IB without "going to a big 4 first"

Truth:
-Breaking to high finance is indeed 100x easier as a woman, especially those the BB groups that receive alot of press coverage, they're trying hard to portray themselves as equal opp employer
-Breaking into IB as big 4 later down the road is not impossible, but it's not that easy. For sure big 4 is not a feeder into the lateral market, that is banks don't usually rely on big 4 to fill their experienced hire (prefer A2A/poaching other bank). Even if big 4 do make it, they surely will be coming in with huge discount on their YoE. Think 5 YoE big 4 coming in as a senior analyst to IB.
