recommend that you try getting an FO job if possible, at least you have your current offer to fall back on.

Would obviously love to secure a FO role, but it’ll be challenging given my school/prior experience.

What do you guys think about the hours-salary trade-off for MO/BO in BBs though? I think it’s pretty decent ngl haha.

Nonetheless, I will try to secure the conversion first and perhaps take the CFA & maybe leverage out to FO/strategy consulting shops doing FS advisory.

Hi all, just stumbled across this forum. I work in PE in the UK at a mid-market fund that has a good rep locally but probably unknown internationally. I worked at an MBB prior to this in Australia and I also attended Uni in Australia.

I want to move to a PE role in SG (not fussed whether it's midmarket, growth, or large cap).

Anyone have views on how hard / easy this will be? Recruiters have told me it will be hard given no local language skills and no working rights - apparently getting sponsored is very hard in SG now

I'm also considering doing an MBA at London Business School (already admitted) and then trying to move to SG post MBA. Can anyone comment on the London Business School MBA reputation in the SG finance scene?

Generally target schools in Singapore are pretty much the same elsewhere in APAC (your usual suspects like Oxbridge, HYP, Wharton and etc.) with the addition of NUS Global MBA which is only prestigious in Singapore. You’ll do just fine with the LBS brand anywhere within APAC.

By PE, are you eyeing local-centric boutique firms like Quantedge and GGV or multinationals like Blackstone? The former is undergoing a hiring freeze atm and possible downsizing that results in analysts fronting many hats.

With your experience, you’ll be entering as a fresh MBA associate which would mean a drastic pay cut considering you spent some time in MBB. Unfortunately, consultants doing a lateral jump to finance won’t be comp’d generously unlike someone in the STEM field.

I'm open to international as well as local firms, as long as the track record is strong and I like the team. Honestly, very tough and very low chances. you have no working permit in singapore and don't have much experience in these fields. MBA doesn't help in that regard too. it's easier to ask for transfer from MBB first and look for a job in singapore after.

Thanks for the response. You may have misread - I currently already work in PE in the UK and have done for 2 years. MBB was my role prior to PE.

So I do have the relevant experience but alas no working permit. How does that change your response, if at all?

sorry my bad. do you have experience in asia/SEA or native language skills in vietnamese/thai/bahasa? the funds are now looking for people with such skillset
