Hey sit down, the real high finance is the market making / prop trading roles. They are getting paid 500k++ as fresh graduate in cold hard cash while IBD bros are jerking off on the prestige they received.

The key word here is if. Go and see all the previous mycareersfuture links, payments analysts earn 4-8k range, not 12k.

Agree that market making and prop traders do make 500k upon graduation. But you are completely missing the point. They hold PHDs in math or science werethey graduate closer to 30. Fresh undergrads DO NOT get into prop trading straight out of graduation, your macro or python skills is not gonna be enoigh
An undergrad IB grad will be making 500k with 4-6 years of experience. Compare apples to apples.

People generally equate front office with high finance which may not be absolutely correct. High finance is high finance whereas front office role is clients facing and not necessary high finance. Take for example a personal banking staff directly interacting with clients is considered front office whereas a CFO of a major mnc may not deal directly with clients as frequently but the latter is regarded as working in a high finance role whereas the former is not.
In high finance which should not be termed loosely in this context just as coporate ranking and appointment are two distinct matter. In high finance, the appropriate remuneration per annum can be summarised as follows:
At age 30-S$75OK and above
At age 35-S$1.3M and above
The above is just an estimation of what a properly regarded high finance role should be expecting and it should only be taken as a reference. Of course this role is exeedingly difficult to attain and if your income is outlined as above congrats you belong to a rare professional working group.
