Do consider the pros and cons as in private sector you have only issue with the politics inside but rest of everything is good. What if you face the same situation in private jobs. Even the private sector go through the politics and all it is not that every place is very fare with the job holders and every where you will see the high authority to take the credit. Do think before taking any decision after all it is about your career and growth.

Private sector upside is unlimited. Have a higher possibility to hit a five digit salary by age 30 to 33.

But perception aside most of our work is also not relevant to private sector...which explains the pay cut.
Maybe consider another govt body if you wanna keep your salary? I think public sector is slowly but surely deteriorating but there are pockets of hope to be found here and there.

Hello! Would you be open to sharing how you transitioned out of the public sector? I am looking to make the move too but feeling disappointed that we public servants aren't very much wanted in the private sector. I've always wanted to try venturing out to the industry and I really hope to make the move soon before I get too old and tied down to the stability and security of public sector work.

I think most ex generals sent to head Singapore companies can agree with this statement.

Coming to Public will kill your hopes of career progression. Be prepared to do procurement and work on internal processes for most of your work. If you are young, will be turned off

Don't forget that public servants are bubble wrapped in their own world.. you do not have to compete with FTs (especially in IT field!) as in MNCs.

I don't understand why public servants always have this idea... one can easily hit 5 digits in ministry or statboard by the time you reach AD, which is not very difficult to attain.
If you ownself beykan in public what makes you think you can so easily hop over to pte? Don't forget pte is more competitive, and your local degree counts for crap if you are incompetent, unlike in public sector.
The grass is always greener on the other side..

Totally agree, when you are getting paid fatly in public sector and people in private sector are slogging and competing with global workers, what makes you think you can transit so easily after getting so many years of 18 mnths annual??
