Can be for a variety of reasons. e.g. project ended, performance not up to expectations, etc.
Note that ^ does not apply to TAP as TAP hires are on perm estab, which is much harder to let go (i.e. they will be rotated to another project after a project ends). In any case, TAP hires are hired after rigorous screening and almost everyone performs well (hence the faster promotions)

Govtech has alot of contract job that run on project basis. Once the project end, your contract will not be renewed hence you have no job after that. They do not fire/retrench you, they just let your contract end. Contract are renew on a yearly basis for contract role. However, if you have been converted to perm (limited slot), it is sort of iron rice bowl.
