Bacground screening in interviews

Screening background process in interviews

Hello, does being a director in f&b company affect job status? My dad insisted to put my name as a director in his company. I have been job hunting for months. I am fresh graduate and get a handful of interviews average monthly. I know myself that I have done interviews positively confident but I never got a single offer till now. Does being a director in company affect my job status? Maybe when HR/hiring managers asks for your IC and they do check whether I am employed or not or having affiliations with other companies. To note: I don't work in my dads company. Just an acting director or whatever. Please advice whether I should revoke my status as being a director or this doesnt affect my job employment at all. Cheers

whats your hons and uni?

background checks such as director posts only matter if u r entering finance or govt job. Otherwise normal jobs should not be an issue

what industries?

end of the year, normally less vacancies. After CNY, things should be better.

I entered banking 2 years back, declared that I had a directorship and subsequently when offered the job, told the head of dept that I was leaving the directorship to prevent any conflict.

So chances are, the director role has not really affected your job search, rather, its competition I guess.

IT/Airline companies...

Oh so you are saying that you got an offer while you being director and then you wanted to opt out after getting the bank job?

Yeah you are right. Must be the market competition. Sigh

Yup, it was a family organisation directorship, so I dint really do much.

Best way to get exp is the corporate world out there.

Stay strong and keep applying across different industries.
