Not that they are all talk no action, sometimes I have to agree they tend to talk/conceptualise an idea with no concrete action. But thats the way the thinking process is for them, they like debates/discussions and not all will have actions. Singaporeans in general, wait for the boss to dictate and act.

I think you need a good balance, we should open up our minds, look at what these FTs offer and learn from them, and use it either to climb up the corporate ladder or for your own business. China is the best example, they learn from Singapore and is even doing better than us. Imagine if they are myopic to close their doors and think they can develop from scratch?
China learning from Singapore? WTH did you get that? ROFL, you seriously need to get out of your couch more.

I'm not an insider, but from the talks and announcements he gave publicly, I'm not at all impressed.

At least he knows how (as the head of DBS) to say sorry for mistakes done by his (and his predecessors') subordinates during the ATM downtime unlike certain office holders. I'll give him the benefit of a doubt that he will ensure that the same mistake is not to happen again.

foreigners reading this, please continue to take advantage of this while you can.

the FT policy in Singapore was a huge concerted effort started many years back. remember all the foreign CEOs hired to run our biggest companies including DBS, OCBC, NOL, etc? (though DBS hinted an about turn recently when peter seah said the next ceo "should preferably be from within the bank, somebody home-grown within the bank.")

at one point even Temasek Holdings got an ang moh CEO elect. if FT are so good, i think parliament should one day also have a few ang mohs to teach us a thing or two about running a country.
the standard of chinese in singapore isn't that high, so please don't use idioms that are too hard for them to understand. instead of 崇洋媚外, a more apt description is: 吃里扒外
