Of course, there's a hierarchy. Even then, only a select few get into grad programs in the local banks. So the demand is definitely there. Take this information as you will.

Different positions. I do know that ocbc tend to filter out applicants based on cap if their internship experiences are lacklustre. Somewhere in the 2:1 range because I know of people who applied same time as me but did not get called for intwrview

So this might be why they have lesser candidates now. They have been interviewing since q4 of last year so might be down to their last few roles. Most vacancies in ops and tech now.
Anw all the best to you TS

Sometimes I really wonder what their ops consist of.

And dam the tech nowadays. Almost 8 out of 10 jobs are tech related.

Well take it in the following context then:

Last year there were 4000 applicants to Young Bankers. Only 63 made it. That's 1.5%.

Sure. It ain't a select few then, pardon my words. It is still, a rare opportunity for these guys. At least you have to admit that. Not any Tom Dick Harry can get into the program.

It’s not easy to get in sure. But there are relatively easier ways to.
I’m an STEM student, went for their recruitment talk, apparently they are hiring 20+ ppl for ops and tech division this year because of the high turnover. If you know nothing about finance but want to get into banking this is a good first step.
Typically they want people who at least have basic programming skills and most STEM students have them

Yeah it's definitely not a shoo-in but amongst the 3 local bank's MA programs, it's the easiest to get into.

Everyone knows "high turnover" just means all the ocbc YBP kids jump to UOB and then eventually to DBS.
