Same here I had the sms reply late june and my status is same as yours on the job portal..
I have a pending offer (software sales) not sure to go for it or wait another week for this.

Anyone doing software sales willing to share some advice?

These are very different jobs. It's important to be clear if you like sales. Also, if there's an offer, you should definitely take it first (unless it's smth you absolutely don't want). Because such trainee hiring programs are very hard to get into so chances are low. But if you do get in, you can always tender on the other side if you think this (Unilever) is the path you want.

Very disappointing for such a large and respectable company to treat their candidates like that. We took the time out to apply, do their lame one-way video test and played the games, and they don't even have the decency to tell us we are not shortlisted or perhaps the programme was delayed for whatever reason.

I only hearsay the $$ in software sales is good.

But like others have mentioned, I think if you are already offered, then you might want to consider accepting the offer. On one hand, you can try out to see if software sales is for you, and at the same time, if Unilever replies, you can always make a decision then.

Goodluck!

Thats a totally valid point you've raised.

Some background: I'm a sales engineer at a local sme in the industrial automation industry. Due to various reasons I feel like im kinda stuck in terms of career progression if I continue down this route. So yeah... im looking at a career change to another industry. Despite the large contrast between this 2 roles, both sounds quite interesting and im equally open to taking up either one.

Yeah thats what I am planning to do but im not sure if thats a 'cb' move on my part. Burning some bridges although more likely than not those contacts might not be relevant anymore since they are of totally different industry.

I'm hoping to get more insights from people in the respective industries. I've consulted some of my friends and seniors although most of them have no concrete advice for me other than 'follow your gut'(all in engineering or banking) but I appreciate their well wishes haha.

anyway thanks for the responses guys

Thanks for sharing your background - it's very interesting and different from fmcg. Unilever not kidding when they say they would consider ppl from different industries. Please update us if you hear from them! I would like to know when I can move on lol.

I'm at one of their key competitors. So I think it's fair for me to say fmcg life can be very exhausting. Really consider the prospects and lifestyle in software sales and see if you are suitable there. I champion having work life balance and would look at pay for hours worked. Maybe that's something for you to think about!

But regarding burning bridges, I suppose if you decide to leave, it will be for a different industry then it wouldn't matter too much esp if the industry isn't small. When you're there just for a hot minute, ppl don't usually remember. It's those who worked for years but on their way out, screw things up and make their team's lives hell that burn bridges. haha

Can someone verify this also? I did enquire and they say Sept will shortlist the candidates and Oct will be the assessment centre? Maybe this is why all our status is still not changing. Can someone call or email and see what they say? Dont know why they say Aug last time. So confusing, they keep changing what they say and the timeline.

just curious, how did you all get in touch with them to enquire? Did you all just find them on linkedin given that there was no email address for provided for my application ( other than hirevue)?

The only way I could think of was through the Unilever Careers FB page. They respond in Messenger. But I haven't heard a definitive answer on what's the status of the hiring process. They're still checking.
