good for you!

But can't deny how underpaid the engineers are in this consultancy industry.
1 engineer involving mutliple projects, no OT pay, rush deadlines and also got to know soooo many different services and get *** by clients.

The pay structure in this industry is pretty standardise for those of you fresh grads out there interested to know.

Either u get 1 month AWS & no bonus OR 1 month bonus but no AWS.
NO OT pay in this consultancy industry. Those in WSP or etc will see the turnover rate is pretty high.

Fresh grad engineers : 3.3 - 3.7k
Senior engineers (typically 4 yrs of experience and above) : 4.5k - 5.5k
Principal engineers (8 yrs exp and above) : 6-7k

A principal annual package is only about 90k+ (already included 1 month bonus).

go to sp or lta much better. A lowly ranked engineer 5k salary + 3 months bonus + 1 month aws, total package already 80k (close to principal engineer with ~10 yrs experience).

Ultimately it comes down to either better $$ (can better invest & huat and enjoy better life) or passion (being able to see your design become something from nothing).

Generally consultancy has high basic and low bonus which is the nature of consultancy market. There are some specific area of engineering consultancy fetch considerably high basic compared to others. I am just junior director between 180 to 200k per annum. My department head earning between 300k to 400k per annum in who is not reporting to CEO directly yet.

The only worry is if this career does not suit me and want to jump out into other industry will be difficult.
Actually if you are still early in your career, find a job that you can learn more. You can always find all.the clues during interview from hiring manager. Do post questions such as short term and long term plan of this role. What are expected from the offered role. What are the potential skillsets / courses will you be entitled to master and do a fair bit of research on those and evaluate if those relevant to future market.

But upside is good pay, but stuck there forever (and be farmer) as other companies will hardly ever match the annual pay package.

There's trade off for everything. Just pick 1 that ure most happy with.
If you think you are competent and competitive, private is a better choice with sky is your limit. There is a risk you may be far from sky if you are burn out halfway / unlucky choice etc
If you want to take a safe route to achieve 120k to 180k per annum (based on current value) with MX 11 or MX10.

Regarding the good pay, normally from year 1 to year 10, probably most PS/CS earns more and very hard to them to switch to private because as mentioned, the skillsets not so relevant for most as CS/PS focus more policy/management skill and private focus a lot on technical.

From 10th year onwards, in private, it depends on your own growth and knowledge base, you might start to earn more than PS/CS. However, I do feel generally most PS/CS still earn more than private
The bell curve for private is skewed to the left while CS/PS is more balanced.

Regret going for engineering degree. Working as engineers sucks big time.

If I want to switch company or get pay raise, where should I jump to?

What are some good options for PS/CS? Like which company in general?
