Not sure should I go this industry.

They offer me 4.3k. Non related working experience.
Or should I go Sale Engineer which they offer me 5.2k with Aws.

sales engineer no doubt.
The big issues with the low pay of consultancies and sad little 1 month bonus (or less) & no AWS is due to the nature of the industry. Project will always be awarded to the lowest bidders , and everyone is just cutting their price in order to get the project.

Please choose a career path that excite you which you will enjoy and perform better. I do not think just following money is a good idea. I believe if you are passionate, you will excel in the field and may become have more advanced scope in the future where your remuneration package will jump.

Aside to that, it is a huge difference between 4.3k and 5.2k with aws.....
Currently I am holding engineering consultant manager role with annual package above 180k.
And I have various options in career - consultant, developer management, equipment contractor manaagrr etc

Get a job best for your future and not the current

180k annual package is probably technical director and above role already.
good for you!

But can't deny how underpaid the engineers are in this consultancy industry.
1 engineer involving mutliple projects, no OT pay, rush deadlines and also got to know soooo many different services and get *** by clients.

The pay structure in this industry is pretty standardise for those of you fresh grads out there interested to know.

Either u get 1 month AWS & no bonus OR 1 month bonus but no AWS.
NO OT pay in this consultancy industry. Those in WSP or etc will see the turnover rate is pretty high.

Fresh grad engineers : 3.3 - 3.7k
Senior engineers (typically 4 yrs of experience and above) : 4.5k - 5.5k
Principal engineers (8 yrs exp and above) : 6-7k

A principal annual package is only about 90k+ (already included 1 month bonus).

go to sp or lta much better. A lowly ranked engineer 5k salary + 3 months bonus + 1 month aws, total package already 80k (close to principal engineer with ~10 yrs experience).

Ultimately it comes down to either better $$ (can better invest & huat and enjoy better life) or passion (being able to see your design become something from nothing).

I am not sure consultant is really my passion. As I completed my part-time NTU degree and specialise in Power Engineering and found interest in the calculation part. But I know consultant in engineering the salary is low, the increment is less than $100 and bonus less than 1 month.

The only worry is if this career does not suit me and want to jump out into other industry will be difficult.

Hi,
What sort of calculation are u interested in ?
Just FYI most power related calculation are done in ETAP (just draw the circuit there and run the calculation u want) and (depend on which company ure in) it is mostly outsourced to cheaper 3rd world countries to do the calculation.

Downside of PS is that u don't learn much.
Everyone knows how bad their technical knowledge is.
But upside is good pay, but stuck there forever (and be farmer) as other companies will hardly ever match the annual pay package.

There's trade off for everything. Just pick 1 that ure most happy with.

Are you from the consulting industry? Do you know which company is the least worst to work at and how much a Professional engineer certification helps in terms of compensation.
