MSD (start 2017) - got 13 month
Year 1: 3.3k
Year 2: 3.5k
Year 3: 3.7k then get promotion 4.1k
Get promoted as long as don't screw up

GSK (start 2015) - no 13th month
Year 1: 3.5k
Year 2: 3.7k
Year 3: 3.9k, normally get 1 promotion (10% increment) 4.3k
Year 4: 4.5k
Year 5: 4.7k, got another promotion (12%) 5.2k
Good performance can get promotion every 1.5 years, so in 5 years can get 3 promotions would make it 5.8k but i was not good enough.
Year 6: jump to Pfizer 6k starting

My take is it s mostly the same for same industry, the difference is not much once you consider bonuses, benefits.

Same company for 8 years - 6k (started from 3k in 2012)
Looks like slow unless jump company.

Worst advice ever. Jump whenever you can. If every firm is willing to pay you 30% more even if you're there for just 3 months, why not?
Just make sure you're getting better challenges, more things to learn, getting more responsibilities with each jump.

It could be a building services related role, such as developer, in house project team, contractor or maintenance. Every sector will require this kind of role ranging from healthcare, hospitality, banks, tech firms etc.

My career trajectory is quite slow. Grad with 1st class overseas engineering degree

Consulting engineer 5yrs - 4.2k + 0.5 to 1yr bonus / annum at the end
Maintenance 4.5yrs - 5.4k + 2mth bonus / annum
Project manager 1.5yr - 5.4k + 4mths bonus / annum

Building engineering i guess will have to slowly farm.

Since u did both consulting engineer and maintenance, which will u choose if u can start over as ur first job ?

Thinking back I would still prefer to do consulting then maintenance.
I probably wouldn't change that if I had a chance. Consulting builds a good base on M&E fundamental knowledge esp if you work on big projects and various sector.

Doing maintenance/FM first you will never be able to gain that amount of knowledge. Furthermore, I do not think that it will be easy to switch from FM to consultancy. Perhaps it will not even be easy to get a job as you do not have any design knowledge.
