Like what everyone else is saying, can go for tech. EE degree is pretty well-regarded for SWE jobs (after Comp Science and Comp Engineering).

Honestly i have offer from both eng and B&F side… if this is the avg progression is it better to go B&F?

Valid question and I definitely don't take offense, we are all here to share our experiences.
I don't have a lot of datapoints for you as I don't discuss salaries with my colleagues/friends, so I can only rely on what is published by MOM as a guide. According to MOM, the median salary (inclusive of employer CPF) for degree holders in the age group of 30-39 is S$7,069. For reference, taking my current monthly income of S$7,400, this would translate to S$8,658 if we include employer CPF, and I am currently 33. Are people earning more than me at my age? Certainly yes. Is this a good salary? I think it is decent considering my working hours. It is enough to comfortably support my lifestyle with a big chunk allocated to investments.
If you currently have offers of S$5k starting as a fresh grad, then more power to you and I am sure you will excel! If your focus is purely on remuneration then I believe there is more potential for growth in B&F.

huh then what kind of job you want lol. Pretty sure most EE/embedded-related jobs these days require some form of coding skills.

Thank you so much for the reply! I took a job at micron (only been 1.5 mths) but will be jumping to another company in the strategy role. Having an eng background it's a bit hard to get the front-end B&F role, so I am hoping to transition to PE or VC after a few year in strategy.

If all you have is a EE degree, than you won't be able to deviate much from eng. The max is you can go into other industries as SWE, which as you mentioned is not what u are good at.
If you really want to go in other roles, you gotta decide on it and learn about it via Coursera or something. Then you can take a few routes:
1. Take an internship in that area and try to convert.
2. Go for some MA/rotational program if you can (it's competitive)
3. do master's (perhaps MBA).
But it all boils down to the fact that the employers want to see that you are really interested and you know what u are getting into. The big question for them will be if you did EE and don't like it, what if they take you for this role and u quit after 2-3 months. You gotta have a good reason to convince them and some background to show for it.
I am a ME grad, who got into a strategy role (M&A). Did it through the MA program. But at the same time I had an interest in finance, so did learn a lot about it myself (books, , Coursera courses) and I would say I have strong basic knowledge of it. That's enough to get me into an interview, but then I have to really sell myself. One this you should make is that your background gets you a lot of skills that business or other grads lack, especially logical and analytical thinking, highlight it. Say your background brings a different perspective to the table which is important for the diversity of opinion.
