Boutique M&A Advisory

Hi all, would like to seek your opinion on what is a fair pay for this role.

My profile: I have close to 3 years of working experience in a marketing role in the financial services industry, case experience in university (e.g. reached finals of one, etc), good grades, and have some side biz as well.

I am being offered 5k base at a small/boutique M&A advisory. Is this fair or should I ask for more? Although it won't add any brand to my CV (since it's a really small boutique), but I will get to work directly for and develop under a good and experienced boss (ex head of some listed company). Should I take the offer up?

(I assume you roughly know what the role entails before you asked around)

Given that you have ongoing personal businesses, you may not have as much time to manage it in your new job (hours are demanding at min. 10-14 hours/day, 5-6 days/week). A 5k base salary for such a startup is not low, your concern should be the bonus/comm payout which could be low (or nothing).

I see this as an opportunity for you to enter the sell-side advisory business and i would recommend you to enter only if you see this as a career (rather than a job that pays for things). All the best!
