Hi can I ask what is the Trade Finance route in banks like? any pros and cons?

I would disagree that it is a dying business unless you are saying global trade is dying and countries around the world are gonna be self reliant and not do any international trade, which is not gonna happen.

There is good money to be made working in trade finance for global commodity trading houses

My friend told me she earning about 8k in a local bank, AVP with 5.5years of experience and MO role. I wonder if it's considered low for her rank? I thought AVP earns more than that for MO.

Not too bad liao. The average buffoon here would do well to aim for that mark by 5ish years.
