I am a VP2 in UOB in Compliance drawing close to 15K. I want to say i know of ppl who jumped from VP2 in UOB to ED in OCBC and SVP UOB jumped to OCBC become MD.

I think in the past uob titles are inflated. Nowadays, OCBC titles are more inflated. Tons of MD. i know of colleague can jump from uob SVP to ocbc MD. Dun make sense to me.

Oh it’s you again lol. The one who said UOB is now a damn good paymaster and most folks in UOB got 20-30% adjustment during the post-Covid pay review

Ocbc’s structure for ED is:

ED > MD > MD 1 > Group MD > CE

How junior is a UOB VP 2 in comparison ?

DBS bonus for SVP is insane lol friend's uncle is SVP after 20 years in technology & operations, hes getting 23k a month, bonus is 140k in 2022, 150k in 2023 and 145k this year

what in the actual fk?

Unregistered 21-04-2024 08:04 PM

no surprise, DBS pays a lot for bonus lol just look at their financial reports, im confused as to how they make profit every quarter even after tech outrage.

if DBS put in more money into tech, they can easily eat up UOB but too bad, treat tech like cost center, get cheapo devs who code rubbish and cause bugs and crashes.

Base part true bonus pure BS. Tech in any bank has the least bonus. At svp in tech, bonus 3months tops. Not to mention dbs just did 2 rounds of comp restructuring in 2022 ans 2023 to move part of bonus to base to make its offer more inline with global bank so appears more competitive

It's actually very good if late 30s. In dbs, usually senior svp or entry ed get 300k base, most mid-40 already. Those commission based role like private banker, trader maybe different, but how many such role are there?

2-3 months vp and below. 3-4 months vp-ed. Md and up no idea but definitely more, plus stocks/options.

DBS has been doing lots of pay restructuring since 2022. In fact they have a popular tech program called DBS SEED in which they give SEEDers 5.5k starting, reaching up to 6.8k after 2 years completion, bonus is over 3 months.

There's also almost no layoff unless you do stupid nonsense like insult SG flag or say PAP sucks etc. If you work like a normal civilized human being, you'll never get laid off.

Very true. Only downside dbs compare to foreign bank is much more workload, as headcount is always stressed. Like 30%more work. You go to mbfc after 6pm and see which tower/lift lobby got the most food delivery...

just think about it, let's look at all the local banks and their tech program ( which are incredibly easy to get in )

dbs seed = 5.5k p.m, after 2 yr program, 6.5k
uob tdp = 4.5k p.m, after 1 yr program, 4.8k
ocbc program = 5k p.m ( dunno how long this prog is )

these are all 0-2 years of experience people

Not as easy as you think, very limited headcount actually. Like less than 5-10% of normal school hire.

Private banking or commission type role only. Normal role in local bank, svp and below, no bonus more than 6 months one.

backoffice pay is like this

associate 6.5k, 2 months bonus = 13k
senior associate 7.5k, also 2 months = 15k
avp around 8.5k, bonus = 17k
vp around 10k, bonus = 20k

svp = 23k a month? bonus 5 months? lmfao what? so bonus is 115k for svps? yea ok bro

Seriously base part is reasonable. Dbs restructure comp last year moving bonus to base to be more "competitive" in job market against foreign banks which are know to pay little bonus but high base (to save cost on cpf).
But bonus part sounds a bit high. Back office in dbs bonus for svp usually 3-4 months especially after restructuring, 5month not very real.

Coz
Boasting cost nothing on internert, especially when anonymously.
Tech is always at the bottom of the food chain in banks, especially local banks. In some banks tech are not even considered banking staff but need to sign separate contract with an independent (usually bank wholly owned) technology legal entity when one move from business unit to tech side.

200k for m22 and 260k for m23 both sounds like extreme top ceiling for their respective bands. avg is 130k - 180k and 180k - 250k respectively

And the hr called me and told me my expected salary exceeds the range and ask me like whether I can compromise on my salary or not, if not the interview can just stop here .. can’t they adjust the role to vp in this case ? Seek your advice ..

How many years of experience do you have and what is your current corporate rank in the bank? This will determine if you are qualify for AVP/VP.
