8 YoE to get VP in Red or Red black bank seems to be a little too far fetch? That could be the reason why the post replier assumed AVP title?

Actually a lot of the good performers (esp if they have supportive bosses) in red black bank get VP at the 6th to 8th year mark

6 years impossible don’t bs. 8 years possible but won’t be 13k. Max 10k or lower

It’s literally verifiable on LinkedIn lol. You can just search for some of the MAs of the bank who are of that vintage.
If you just make VP, yeah probably a bit above $10k. But 2 years in of being VP, not impossible to be $13k, especially after the bank’s adjustment of compensation

I think we have to clearly set out whether we're talking about FO roles or non-FO roles.
If FO (IB, trading, corporate bankers, private bankers), 6-7 years to reach VP and 10k is not that unreasonable.
If non-FO, then definitely few and far between, progression is much slower there both from title and pay perspective.

I think some ppl are a little too obsessed with the idea of FO vs non-FO. This is a local bank thread, not a foreign bank thread. In local banks, that idea of FO vs non-FO is really not that strong. In fact lines are very blurred what’s non-FO, and by extension “low-paying”.
Is a transaction banking cash pdt manager non-FO? They get paid well, as well as eg a corp banking RM. Is an ecosystems partnership lead non-FO? They get paid well.
Is a core system tech lead non-FO? They get paid well too.
So it’s better to not be binary

same like how you don't just quote 6 years experience leads to a VP without any further context on what kinds of roles they usually are, unless you're saying that graduates can attain this regardless of the functions/departments/roles they are in
