Hi,

28 is still young. Lookout for advertisement from banks... they are looking for degrees in any discipline........

Good luck.

it also helps if you have an uncle or a daddy in the board or senior management, or if your last name is a mittal or a kuok or a trump.

I read your post , but i cannot help wonder if you know what you are asking. .

I think most people forget that going to bank is NOT a blank cheque to higher pay. In fact, there are those who entered, with lower pay and left after few years still with low pay and completely disenchanted.

It is the same like the top 4 CPA firms. Why dont many auditors stay on in CPA firms though they a chance to bea partner ? It is because they realise until you reach that stage, your work life is really bad.

Ask around more, and you must ask if you really do have such drive to succeed. And to be clear on the reasons.

Being at the top is lonely when you have no family and friends to celebrate with. $ cant buy back the moments when your child is no longer a child but a rebellious teenager and doesnt want to talk to you anymore.

So before you say you want to join a bank because of your drive to earn a higher income for your family ... ask yourself, do you know what you are saying.

Agree with you generally, but there are some lucky ones who don't need to trade off anything or sacrifice anything. They have it all.

When a person asks to enter finance, he probably wants to have it all.

Many British expats whom I know have it all - high pay, work life balance, time for family, vacations - so why can't the aspirants?

Many expats here have something we local dont. they have connections.
Talk to them and you will realise that many are like sons of connected people in the company or related company and they know so and so from management team in the comapny.

So of course they can have it all. Even the local management team have to give them some leeway because of their network.

Unfortunately, we in singapore dont have large foreign presence .. too small a fish in the big world of things.
