JG14 for those older than 40?

Wonder if there are any success stories of AHP or admin switching to a completely different industry.

I knew of someone who was a nurse. She switched to admin in a financial sector in her 30s, but had to start right from the bottom...fresh grad pay. 10 years of actual work gone down the drain.

Probably very similar to education and social sector...all industries view these sectors as no transferable skills
I knew of someone who reached JG14 at only 50 years old.

In my department of lab medicine. There are about 150 pax. The department is divided into several smaller sections eg biochemistry, blood bank, haematology, microbiology, histology etc. In reality, there is only one principal JG15/16 in each section, maybe additional one more for bigger section. Around 1 or 2 JG14, 40% JG13 and 60% JG12 and below.

The cold hard truth is majority will eventually retire at JG14, as there is simply no need for so many JG15. If the principals don't retire or resign,
none can move up. As of the latest pay scale for JG13, it is only until about $7700.

Exactly.. many regretted signing on and can't wait to leave after their bond ends.

Yea don’t compare with others (it’s a slippery path) as the grass is not always greener on the other side. Being contented with what you have is the most important.

Im a JG15 principal.
40yo, got promoted at 39yo.

Worked for around 14 years, in between 2 years sent to study masters on hmdp scholarship.

Am a team lead.

AHP. My first promotion was after 7 years. From JG12 to 13
And that is after i came back from studies.

4 years work
2 years study
1 more year work then promotion.

I was then determined to do well.
Became vocal, visible, take up many projects, speak up smartly during meetings.
Became team lead, promoted at 10th and 13th years of service.

Is it worth it? Not sure as my pay is bad compared to other industries.

But looking at the pay of ahp here I think im doing ok.

Current salary 8.5k. Usually 16.5mths package.
So TC 140k.

Is that good or bad? Im not sure.

But i think im happy to be promoted to JG16 and salary capped at 12k.
12k x 16.5 = 200k.

After that i will be that tang ping senior lao jiao who do wantever i want and relax.
That is my career goal haha.
