Is there a reason why? I do know the downside of healthcare being slow progression but the iron bowl nature of the job should even out the downside.

Yes. Singhealth bonus system is different from NUHS and NHG. Our special bonus is lesser. This is just PB. Excluding one month AWS. A grade/EE can expect 3 months plus PB.

You want iron rice bowl can join civil service. Pay is so much better.
Do you know healthcare have to do shift for majority staff except admin. Shift work is very hard to take leave.

Do you know if you jump from one healthcare institution to another, most of the time there is no pay increment this is so as to reduce the cost of healthcare. Previously, I was offered a AHP role during 2021, the HR straight out told me this package is non-nego, take it or leave it. Fast forward 1.5-2yrs later, I tried to apply for a role at another public institution, was told the package will be the same as what I was currently having.
While I do like the nature of my job, I cannot fathom why must I sacrifice my potential earnings. If I was in other industry, I believe the future earnings will be more substantial. Hence if you feel that compensation is equally as important as the nature of the job, I would suggest you to skip healthcare. This is because the only way to increase pay is to farm your way up i.e. using time to clock experience, pray get promoted, to move up the pay scale.
Just my opinion, up to you to decide. Cheers.

I recently went for an interview in NUHS, I'm from Singhealth. told me flat out there is no pay increment and change in job grade or promotion. Then what is the point??
If you want to get pay increment.. it's from public move to private then move back to public.
Progression is so slow.. promotion is limited by the number of people.. have to wait for seniors to move up before you can move up. I'm in a very small section of less than ten pax, I'm stuck in the same JG13 for ten years and there's no way to move up cos my section only needs one JG15, one JG 14. The rest of us will be stuck as 11, 12 and 13.

Can confirm this is true. When my department interviews candidates, we tell them no pay increment, no promotion.
