Why the company offer me 2 year contract for my first job?

I apply St Electronic, they offer me 2 year contract

I am fresh grad, so I am not very familiar with this

is it normal for a GLC to offer contract role for first job? does it mean they may not have the intention to convert me to full time if they offer me contract role only?

Contract is very common nowadays even for civil service. If your performance is okie, and they have headcount they will convert u to perm. If not they might offer you another two years contract at end of two years.

Anyway for mellienials we seldom stay in the same job, the chances of u outlasting the two years contract is silm.

as the above poster said - they may or may not convert you at the end of contract. Even if your performance would be above the bar for the next two years, they will not convert you if there are no vacancies and/or required.

if dont llike it - then dont take the offer.

between a contract role vs perm role

is it better to take up a perm role

if the jobscope is around the same?

Ofc a perm role is better since it provides more job security

i don't know why you're asking these questions to strangers on the internet... you will know it the best yourself.

Traditionally, temp staffs lack the complete benefits enjoyed by perm staffs. And they are often on the chopping block first if the company decides to cut costs.

However, these days many temp jobs in reputable / sizable companies enjoy most parts of the benefits as with a perm staff would. Though, perm staffs still have priority / enjoy bigger slice of the cake during bonus allocation and what not... Of course, then comes the question of people taking up temp positions to beef up their CV first.. hey, at this juncture what bargaining chips do you have ,right?

different people have different perspective in life.. i recently met one lady who enjoys floating around as a contractor - in her view she likes taking 2-3 months break after every assignment, which typically lasts between 6 - 8 months.

so, it's all up to you. it's not rocket science, you can figure it out on your own by just doing some brainstorming..
