NUS financial engineering
Hi guys,
I am currently studying in NUS financial engineering masters full time, left with only 2 more modules to take and 1 FYP. On my way to 2nd upper in terms of CAP.
I am now looking for jobs in the finance sector, in areas such as risk management, futures and options, derivatives, asset management, etc. I'm planning to convert to part time study if I can secure a job.
I try to look for jobs that require between 1-3 years job experience (I have no relevant job experience).
I have been sending out resumes but there has been no replies.
Appreciate any advices or suggestions on how to secure a job. I know the times are quite bad these days.

This is the problem my friend.
As an employer, when I post a job ad with specific requirements I don't do so for fun. There are genuine reasons (albeit your alternate believes) why, either due to job scope or company policies etc.

Thanks for your reply. But all the job postings require at least 1 year of job experience. How does fresh graduate like me find a job? If we don't start out, how do we get experience?

Well correct me if I am wrong but you might be looking at the wrong segment. Try filtering out jobs that require job experience that doesn't tally with yours.
And to answer your second question, that is why internship, part time stints has always been the best way to get into a company you desire or to shore up experience.
Most employers just want to see that you have worked before, get hands on before, understand the basic systems rather than hire a total freshie and getting someone to guide them 100%, waste man hours which really defeat the whole idea of "hiring".
You have 2 more modules to go, try squeezing something in.
