Getting ahead on a mid career switch to teaching
If you're considering a mid-career switch to teaching, get a relevant Masters rather than starting from scratch. Check out this Monash degree offered by Kaplan Singapore.
Also works for those who have a desire to work overseas. The course also certifies you to teach English in a foreign country. Course preview is on 1 Mar. Interested please check out http://xpo.kaplan.com.sg/tesol. |
Mid career switch to teaching needs only a recognised basic degree
You do not need a master degree to teach! The right attitude and right pedagogical skill are more important.

Your number of years working outside MOE does helps you add a few scales ($100) higher to your starting pay tagged to your first degree; once again. |
how much will I get in NIE, considering I have a 9 yr experience from a MHA agency, with a 2 lower honour?
Will a transfer of service be better or just simply resign then join ? |

Hi Elly. With that logic, wouldn't there be no motivation for in-service teachers to go for their masters? You worked/working in HR-related position in this area? Would appreciate your insights, please. Thank you =) |

If you are entering MOE, they look at your first degree and No of years work experence. masters is of little to no significance. However, if your are already in service and go for a masters, it will help in your yearly apprasial and your move up the scale to HOD or other scheme of service other the GEO. Perhaps the inspector scheme. Of course that will mean salary increment. |
