Investment banking/consulting career path from non-finance graduate
Hi,
I am a final year chemistry student at UCL in London. I didn't intend do break into IB or consulting when I joined UCL. But I only found out that a career path in chemistry is not for me. I tried very hard to get some internship from last Nov but all the applications turned out to be rejected due to lack of preparation. I will spend a year doing my army in my home country after graduation. I will only start my job-hunting in Singapore in 2016.
My question is
1. Are there any chance for me to get any interview from IB or consulting firm without any relevant experience?
2. Should I do a Msc in Financial Enginneering at Nanyang Business School in order to gain some experience?

1. get an internship first. or do networking. u have one year. do more research on the industry. is ib / consulting REALLY what you want to do? or is it because of the prestige? in singapore, it is easier to start off from par-time/contract work.
2. you should apply first and see whether you can get in in the first place. by the way, MFE has nothing to do with IB / consulting. MFE is more towards derivatives pricing, lots of coding involved.

Dude, consulting and IB are as different as apples and oranges.
Stop being a prestige whore.
