Any significant differences between the university certs?

Is there any significant differences between certs from NUS, NTU, SMU as compared to SIM?

A big difference. look at the entry requirements and you'd know.

Some corporates don't even recognise SIM degree

aptitude, attitude matters more than that piece of paper.

someone with NUS cert and someone with SIM cert
does not mean they go interview sure hire the NUS one right?

depends on how you carry yourself.

i work in govt org, many SIM grads here.. same positions as local uni grads.

Having a younger brother in SIM and myself from NTU. I know the struggle of SIM grads.

As much as you like to believe that aptitude and attitude matters more than paper, paper is still a very big deal. Reading the SIM starting salary thread you'd know the difficulties.

SIM is not well recognised in private sector. You are 1 class below NTU/SMU/NUS

Think, EM3 versus EM1. BMW versus KIA

I work in the Ministry and I know that the preceding post cannot be further away from the truth. Many a times during a recruitment drive, there will be many job applicants for every position. It is customary for HR department to sift out the copious applications based on the academic qualifications and work experience, where the former is based upon the credentials of the University. Ivy Leaguers, Oxbridge and the likes of Imperial definitely lead the pack, followed by our local varsities. To be honest, SIM don't stand a chance, not even close...It doesn't even matter much if the SIM grads got first class honours.

Regarding the statement that a NUS graduand will not be hired for sure, it is technically right, due to the condition "for sure". Nothing is for sure. But if you look at the statistics, NUS is indubitably far more superior than SIM.

One can argue whether SMU business is better than the traditional powerhouses of NUS/NTU....or whether NTU engineering can beat NUS engineering...blah blah blah.

But if you compare SIM versus NUS/NTU/SMU....It is totally different league. Simply put, no chance at all.
