Unregistered 22-05-2019 11:19 AM

I heard from my classmates, local uni. Depending on the roles, degree results for FRESH GRADS:

Finance related: 4-7k
Engineering 3-5k
Govt: 3k-5k
Consulting: 3-5k
Marketing 3-4k
Big4 ~3k
Academia 3-4k

Could be higher or could be lower, all figures round off.

Got so high? Thought median is just 3.5 k for fresh grads. So there should be 20-30% 2k plus individuals too.

they can be the the lower spectrum of the range what, doesn't mean 3-5k means they need to be in the range of 4-5k, and of course there are other non-mainstream roles not highlighted in my list.

a bulk of them are in big4 getting ~3k (round up for ease to type).

Hr degree FRESH grad totally no hr exp around 2k only. 1.8 to 2k.same as diploma hr fresh grad.

the 3k ppl say,i really dunnoe come from where (for HR degree fresh grad)
3k for hr most likely is degree level job and after like 3-4 years exp then can get.

They dont count internshop experience? Thats quite bad eh. Maybe try look for another company?

Unregistered 13-06-2019 01:39 PM

actually i try search since last year on all job portal already over few hundreds jobs already

Hr degree fresh grad really borderline 2k or 2k. Thats the trend now.haha

Even if count intern, also treat as fresh grad etc.

HR industry not doing well now.haha

I guess mainly due to hr no longer strictly requires a degree or even a diploma to be one, so even if u have a degree, they will still pay u same as a diploma hr grad.

sure anot? your degree fresh grad is local uni or private uni? alot employees treat private unis as local diploma

Unregistered 13-06-2019 11:12 PM

yes, if u all dont believe, just search on jobstreet or any job portal, Hr or human resource den u try find one with education requirement as Degree, even after 2-3 years exp around mid 2k only. but most likely they will put as o level/diploma/degree. they wont put just "degree" then salary will be around 2k.

thats if the job ad salary state something like 3k to 3.7k

if they dont state that range, where ur 3.5 come from?

For example, the job ad on jobstreet put 1.8 to 2.2k

Even if u nus, it will still be given whats in the range at ,which is 2.2k, and then i be given a 1.8k. Thats what im trying to say

In the first place, there isnt a fresh grad hr job (degree) that state salary range that hit 3k, so where ur 3k gonna come from if the range of every hr job ad put 1.8 to 2.2k. You will still get the best if ur nus/ntuc,but its the 2.2 lor, then diploma 1.8.

For example,
s://i.postimg.cc/cJPdM0y5/salary.jpg

the range put like that for that specific job ad,even if ur nus etc, ur still gonna get 2.2 which is the highest end of the range.

my point being, nowadays dont really have a fresh grad (degree only (strictly)) hr job already.

Unregistered 14-06-2019 01:32 PM

The reason being, alot employers realise Hr dont really need degree to be why, which is why at the same time, you gonna see this on alot hr jobs advertise education requirements:
"o levels/diploma/degree/graduate/post graduate/nitec in hr or related field" for one job ad. ur that at least 3.5k is a degree holder working AFTER maybe 3-4 years then can get , not immediately after grad( fresh grad) get le.

Unregistered 14-06-2019 01:33 PM

to be one* not why,my apologies.

alot organisations have a grade pay matrix kinda system 1. no matter what job you apply for, they will pay you based on that.

for example, if got 2 fresh grad with the same degree same honours applying for 2 diff job in the same company on jobstreet.
1 apply for fresh grad job. job listing 3~4k
the other apply for a job that require specialised skill, and need 3yr experience. but has proven they are a good fit for the job. 5~7k

in this case, both fresh grads will get the same pay as they are following the grade pay matrix.
if the sheet says ntu, first class honors, 3k. both fresh grad will get 3k even tho the 2nd has a specialised skillset and is taking up a job that requires more experience.

likewise for your HR example. they can list 2k, and state minimum diploma.
but if a uni applies and get offered, the pay will be adjusted accordingly.

Unregistered 15-06-2019 08:37 AM

8 years ago a Ministry with specialist career scheme paid fresh grad entering HR role 2nd lower 3.6k. Add in 8 years of inflation, starting pay should be low 4k now. But are you good enough?

Unregistered 15-06-2019 11:54 PM

Any difference in starting pay between the traditional NUS NTU SMU vs the newer universities sutd, sit, suss?

I dont know about you but aerospace engineering have two paths. One path is those who wanted to get a straight payscale of 2.8-3.7k. Another path if for those (regardless of you are from nus, ntu, sim, sutd)who wants to go through an apprenticeship scheme whereby your starting pay will be 2.5k for 4 years or another company offering you 1.8k for 2 years. But after that the apprenticeship training, your pay will jump to 5k for the first year and it will keep on increasing due to your approvals and allowance.
