As long as your project is considered mission critical (i.e. "real work"), it is good enough. things like supplyally is quite at the backend and not at the limelight, but because it works and is actually used in "real" settings (especially when it is actually helpful during COVID times), industry will recognize such efforts. I guess you meant by dev(sec)ops or infra when you talk about engineering productivity, in which case, this shud be infra domain, which thankfully, industry does recognize.
unfortunately, a good number of govtech projects are not seen as mission critical, as I mentioned earlier. most of those plainly apps, one which I already mentioned in prior posts, are good examples of what industry doesnt really see as mission critical development - sorry to those guys who are working on those projects.
reason why is becoz the govt has this penchant to over-promote some of Govtech projects which are viewed by industry as "simply ordinary", henceforth the industry has a first-cut bias against those when one mentions he/she develop this, wah win award here, win award there - when the app/system developed is plain ordinary.
of coz, it gets worse if your work is non-critical, AND low profile. Possible to still get industry buy-in, but harder. At the very least, those non-critical but high profile projects still facilitates jumping to other gahmen/gahmen-like agencies in the future.
I'm speaking from Software Developer/Engineering pt of view. Of course, if you UX Designer for apps, of coz apps is booster lar
