Interesting. His LinkedIn profile does give off that vibe.
Ok la. He's probably actively doing that before he's a DCE. Can't blame him

If you look at his linkedin profile at face value, it definitely seems like a good candidate (private + GLC + statboard + conference organizing - which govtech seems to keep on doing), and taking in a full team of ex-indeed engineers with an ongoing culture that does not need to be rebuilt sounds nice without hearing into details.

So many ways to go about doing it without causing such a big hooha, including increasing the maximum compensation per grade level so that they can be matched accordingly and silently, or spreading them across various teams that desperately needed more people. When we said we need more people, we do not need another divison coming out with competing products in the entire WOG ecosystem (LLM craze anyone?)

Now it's just a 60 man team that couldn't even publicize what their achievements are, when even WOG product teams that has < 10 ppl starts publicizing their feature through mailing lists when it's just closed-alpha/beta. Even agencies outside of govtech are also gossiping about this.

I think it is the right move for govt agencies to hire from the private sector to lead units\developments in emerging and cutting edge areas too. Too much intellectual inbreeding will ensure if they rely on only their existing pool of people, who often have spent their entire life in the agencies with no new ideas and shallow understanding.

I would be surprised if the buck stops with him. 60 people is basically the size a of an entire division. He is only a DCE, does he have the authority to pull off such a thing?

He's the main culprit behind this entire saga.

Is it confirmed that it's 60 people?

That's an unusually large expansion in headcount. Impacts headcount budget and everything.

No wonder MOF querying, (if rumors are true la).

But authority wise, you think solely his decision meh. Surely its blessed by CE and Board beforehand liao. Such a major expenditure and headcount increase is a major agency wide decision that could only have been taken at the highest level. Probably PMO lvl

Outside of govtech also gossip about this? Really bad. Think need follow up with the mail to internal affair.

But they cant also simply max out the compensation per grade level just cause want to hire these folks lei. Doesn't work that way. In fact that sounds like bribery lol. But spreading them equally would be better
