Does TAP pay more for the “prestigious” departments? Or same for everyone? Or anywhere has better chance to promote?

they pay diff according to background and skills and street cred.
all the zai kias (scholars, competition winners, open source contributors, CS valedictorians etc. you get the idea) get higher pay as TAPpers.
there are also more renowned teams within GT and not all teams are viewed the same. but as far as i know promotion wise is dependent on performance, not so much prestige afaik.

Isnt entirely true. Some divisions have higher promotion quota for reasons ex. prestige / visibility of projects (SE/TT) and bosses who have clout and are willing to fight for u. Some divisions have xxx employees with only single digit promotions per annum. Choose wisely my friend.
