Anyone waited a long time to receive their letter of appointment, until it is very close to your first day of work? How close was it?

I made the wrong choice of quitting after accepting their email conditional offer, but it has been over 3 weeks and I still have not received the formal contract.. still left 1 week nia. Chase HR, all they can say is to be patient, and they will do daily checks to see if approved..
