3 years promoted each year.
Then heard rumour is recommended from another svp one.
But start him at senior manager to train him or let him familiarised with the company but the end goal was to make him svp.
Not based on merit one la.
The division manager that was "training" him not happy la. He worked here 30 years still a division manager while another young guy come under him. Within 3 years higher rank than him and power liao.
Promotion not based on merits.
Its based on your boss wanna promote u or not.
That's the thing people fail to understand.
You can be the smartest. You can be most hardworking.
Your boss don't want to promote you. You don't get promotion.
That's why alot of politics here.
Promotion is not based on merit

Wrong.
M / Principal Engineer = M3
SM / Senior Principal Engineer = M4
AVP / Deputy Chief Engineer = M5
VP / Chief Engineer = M6

M1 - Assistant Principal Engineer
M2 - Principal Engineer
The fact that there is so many interpretation means there is no transparency.
When within own organisation.
HR Failed.
Its murky up there cause not many will reach there

I think M2 is Principal Engineer, M3 is PE with Manager appointment. I wonder if there are appointments with same grade, like M3 can be a manager or senior manager.

E4 - Asst Engineer / Engineering Assistant
E5 - Engineer
E6 - Snr Engineer
M1 - Asst Principal Engineer / Asst Manager
M2 - Asst Principal Engineer / Asst Manager
M3 - Principal Engineer / Manager
M4 - Snr Principal Engineer / Snr Manager
M5 - Director
This is the official since 2007.
The rest is inflation of title.

Wah like this means my colleague jumped from M1 to M4 and she bluffs us la.
She was assistant principal engineer confirmed its M1. Then big boss pulled her up to principal engineer during covid.
Now post covid her title is senior manager means she promoted to M4?
Can like that one meh.
From M1 to M4 in 3 years?

Yes this is accurate. M2 is not Principal Engineer grade, I don't know where these people get their info from, or they are/were not ST staff.
There are two grades for Assistant Principal Engineer.

it seems like the ranks are not clear and quite messy depending on different BU. I am M2, and my title in Org chart is Principal Engineer. My RO is M3 Senior Principal Engineer.

Tired
My division used to have 5 senior principal engineer .
Their new title now are AVP, BP or director.
Now only 1 senior principal engineer.
Shrug.
Either title got inflated.
Or the top got promoted but the bottom didn't get promoted up.
