The way i see it is just sharing of opinion. No fake news here.
Some do well in ST some don't. If you don't do well then go and find another job.
If you do well in ST, then congratulations, you can continue to stay. Every company has a different culture, either you fit or you don't. No right or wrong.

Everyone here has mouths to feed, good to share opinions with each other but don't have to put down others.

Everyone aspires to move upwards, whether in ST or some other companies.

Got background check one meh?
You mean security clearance is it?

That one is not determined by ST. ST is just applying on behalf for you.
How long it takes is not up to ST

I think usually will take about 2-3 weeks before the new hire starts work.

For defence related divisions I'm not sure if there is any deviations.

Unregistered 04-06-2021 08:33 AM

luckily that i left ST already....staying in this company degrades me into retirement!

Unregistered 04-06-2021 10:51 AM

New scheme is 16 days leave after 10 years is 21?

How many days family care?

Unregistered 05-06-2021 12:30 PM

Yes 1-5 years = 16 days, above 5 years =18 days. Then slowly increase to 21 days.

1 day family care leave.

The $15 to $60 range is also applicable for outsource staff, depends on division.

Outsourced are usually paid 2 months on average, one is the completion bonus and one is the performance bonus.

What is the difference between a Project Engineer and a Project Manager? Is the former a doer and the latter the delegator?

No more completion bonus in the new scheme.
Performance bonus is only 0.5 months.

Its even worst than outside contract with 1 month completion and no performance.
This company shortchanged the outsource staff to do the work.

While the perm staff just leech the company of the money and does nothing.
You can observe during this WFH period that alot of staff have no real work if they don't go for "meetings".

Titles means nothing. What matters is the $ you take home every month.

Basically E5 salary grade is called project engineer.
E6 salary grade is called senior engineer.
M1 salary grade is called assistant principal engineer.
M2 salary grade is called principal engineer.
M3 salary grade is called senior principal engineer.

I have one project they just arrow the E5 to do all the work and his title for that project is "project manager"

I have another project M3 is the "person in charge" his kpi and bonus for that year is tied to this project.
But he just delegate to E5 to do all the work but that E5 is called project engineer.

Alot of in between M1 and M2 dunno do what one.
They call themselves managers. But they don't manage the project.

In short, everything is just hire fresh grad E5 to do all the work while the higher ups just relax and retire at work.

Thanks for sharing. Are there 2 schemes of service - one for technical (like the one you have explained earlier) and another for non-technical? If so, what is the hierarchy like then for the latter?

Kind of little compare to outside, some even got 2-3 days family care leave and 1 day birthday leave.

Now max bring forward annual leave only max 5 days.

This year is 5 days. Next year onwards is 0.

Leave policy getting more and more lousy.

Looking for job outside then I see that ST leave (be it annual leave, family care, birthday leave etc), GP health care, dental health is way lesser than usual.

Outside still have company that can allow bring forward 1 year of annual leave, some also allow to bring forward 8 to 10days. In terms of GP health care, here still need co-pay, some outside company is fully paid. Here start with 16 days of annual leave, some outside I see start with 18days.

The benefit is getting more lousy as the year goes by and higher management more pattern than ever nowadays.

Boss will not approve for sure, secondly if really can I think best is not to have you as colleague if not your colleague need to cover 1 month ++

Don’t think so will be zero next year, that too much, most companies outside at least allow carry forward 50% of annual leave. Whatever, not like I will still be inside ST by then.

They cut to 5 days stating “to allow staff to enjoy work life balance” is BS! They just don’t want people to accumulate a lot of leave to carry forward.
