The Cyber in ST has very deep rooted issues
Now it is all about winning winning and winning business, they grew a mercenary sales force that is bigger than the delivery team working on projects.
The sales people do not have an idea of what they are selling, and is content to just managing the account, promise the world to the customer and leave all the work to the delivery team that have to put the bid together, and ultimately also deliver the project.
In recent years, all the ex uniform personels are also put into leadership positions heading up business units that they have no competency leading at all. This led to many competent people leaving them and being replaced with fresh graduates who will definitely struggle as they have no one with the competency to guide them, and repeat this cycle many times over in a year. The management is blind to all these as the VPs never reported this upwards, and the management is too busy soliciting business to even walk the ground and understand how it is like.Their only focus is on achieving the business KPIs to keep the share prices up and ensure the shareholders are well taken care off, but the people working inside are going through cycles of churning, and no capability is left in the delivery team despite the company working on many different projects over the years.
For anyone who wants to join,it is best if you have 10 - 15 years of experience, enjoy a good reputation in the industry and join them at least as a VP, which is usually a senior management role either heading a business, or leading a function in ST. They will readily hire you and offer you a good package as your reputation will be good to bring in business. The pay package and overall remuneration for the VPs and above are very different from what the engineers and low level managers get, the top is heavy and well fed, and the mid and bottom have to do several jobs with one salary. Junior engineer doing tech lead work which sometimes is really over their capacity to deliver, senior engineer taking care of delivery and also project managing, project managers that have to handle 4 - 5 projects and often all burning at the same time and shows up only in steering committee meetings.
I know because I work with the delivery team over a period of time as their customer, experienced it as a customer first hand of how they run their delivery, how their sales force behave and experience the lack of expertise in their leadership running the businesses

It is all over ST. Not limited to cyber. Other LOB of ST as well. My advice just do as little as possible. No point overdoing. A new guy will come in with lower skillset but higher pay than you.

Only if your RO just promote to M1 and don’t know what to do and don’t know what to assign then your can get away doing bare minimum.

Yeah. It's rotten. Manager are promoted in from outside no expriexnd
Like how a non tech job software non programming background manager can lead the whole software division. And before one year, he is promoted to senior management. All the managers are special connection or entitlement. No substance at all.
End up hire fresh grad. E5 to do all the work. It's like my current team asking us E5 to design and implement... And the principal engineer or senior principal engineer take our design and put their stamp of approval on it. And claim credit for our work.
Then they ask u to go meeting with them and u listen to how they stole all your ideas and work and present it to customer and the senior manager like they "thought" and "lead" the whole project.
No wonder E5 doesn't get promoted and only M1++ keep getting promoted.
Its really disgusting. Promotion is not based on merit. It's based on your connection to the senior management.
You can take a look and ask urself what does all this managers do everyday? And there is sooooo many managers upon managers who have assistant manager who has E5 as their project manager.
Ultimately alot of chain of command but ONLY E5 is actually doing the work.
