My side. Got like 5 their contract didn't get renewed since Jan...

More counting. April 1 more also heard not renewed.
A few expiring end of the year hoping will renew.

But seems very unlikely unless got new project come in.
Cause heard new management want to reduce headcount for kpi and the revenue purpose so they can answer to the top.

Alot of my colleagues now all play act blur nobody want to take on the extra work.
But also don't want to argue cause want to keep the job.

Situation is dire. Is it like this outside?

U can try and apply outside job and see for yourself lor. If you have family then don't risk your rice bowl since ST is a place to work till retirement.

If you have the skills, u can survive well anywhere. See the glassdoor review also. Good for starters only....

Contract as outsource or ST contract staff?

Especially if outsource, you can start trying to look around. Compared to perm staff, the outsourced staff benefits lose out a lot, especially in terms of leave, increment and bonuses.

But I already work here 4 years they should have convert me to perm!
Like this every few years I just keep changing job.... No job stability

Conversion to perm is not a guarantee. Many people learned the hard way. Imagine your appraisal is lumped together with perm staff. Consideration confirm is go perm staff first. Then your performance must be very good consistently which is difficult unless you are in the inner circle.

If you notice, the turnover rates for contract staff is way, way higher than perm staff.

Well who want to be loyal to a company if they are given contract position instead of perm.
Yet when problem arises I see they only ask for outsource staff to solve it.

Don't see no perm staff step up with their skills and promotion to solve the problem.

Not sure if your BU or division had this practice. When an engineer is converted to perm or promoted, no one said a word about anything.

My division had such practice, to the point no one knew 3 M2 and M3 were promoted and become KAH.

Cause they don't want to take on more responsibility...
Everyone just want promotion and higher pay with it.

But with it want to do less work.

He denied he got promoted... Cause when we tease him that he should treat us lunch cause we work so hard under his guidance that he got promoted to lead another division now...

He say covid-19 cannot gather.. And he denied promotion...

This kind of boss...
Anyway not under him liao. Now under a youngster.
Very ambitious this one. Pushing for updates. Meeting etc.

This young one already pissinf people off.
Funny thing is no engineers got promoted le.
Only those management... Weird right.

And oh the young one was previously principal engineer now AVP.

All kind of stories la. They all are promoted.

Lol that's very true. 50 engineers only 2 or 3 promote or convert. But those at the top promote and rotate every few years.

No idea, either the bosses have no idea what people are doing, not satisfied with performance / profit or simply want to keep cost down. Many possible reasons which is not known to anyone but the management.

You found new job liao?
Now economy recovered liao mah?

Still getting mixed feeling.
Seems to be better than mid 2020 but also feels like if you get a new job now might be lower pay offered..

My side got 5 people quit liao since 2021 but all contract not expired. They never share they got a new job.
Most use the same excuse. Taking a break first before finding next job...

I cannot afford to be jobless ah. Got wife and kids and old parents to feed.

Agreed we contract have to do something or else contract not renewed.
Perm staff liao do or don't do will only end up with more promotion.

Even if you don't exceed expectations, you still be promoted based on length...

But its also good that perm staff quit la. Then outsource can be converted...

Good good.

Really is iron rice bowl? We already seen what happened last year during September/October, still want to assure that ST is a iron rice bowl, like before?

I think payout is april. You may need to stay beyond April or may if not bonus have to return

based on the policy should be you have to be in employment service and not in the notice of termination on the bonus payout date....so technically, take bonus liao then tender after the bonus payout date is ok....correct me if i am wrong or my understanding of the statement is wrong.

I thought perm staff is 2 months notice and you quit after bonus must return the bonus. No ah?

I heard this story before...

I also heard perm staff get paid first like 3rd week of every month?
Outsource only get paid last day of the month...

Cause sometimes jobline deposit early 1 or 2 days instead of the last day. I very happy say got money to eat lunch liao...

My perm staff colleague told me they got their salary last week liao...

One of their outsource agency I feel had no email etiquette and too many rules and regulations to follow, anything also blames the staff.

Which other agency they use?
I also found out hor... That apparently if they want to convert you to perm... They have to pay the jobline some fee....

No wonder they so reluctant to convert people to perm la. Cost money.
Such a big company no idea why they don't have HR to shortlist and find candidate...

Outsource is like lazy to find people...
