I'm leaving because there is no other software developer in my team. I heard from colleagues that there is no promotion and career growth for software developer under this team and many have left before me and many will.
The division is not software based. The bosses are all not software or tech trained.
Honestly no idea how they can call themselves principal engineer...
Anyway my contract is 2 years. Heard bonus is only 0.5 months even more pathetic than outside work place that have at least 1 month aws or completion bonus.
And no, its not relax. I have to front client and do programming and maintain existing buggy software. All one person... And my RO was promoted just when I joined but he doesn't know anything.
Basically his job is just delegate work to me.
Meeting also he have no clue what is what. I don't think he is a software guy.
Heard his degree was EEE but he manages software team.
I guess here people are rewarded for their mouth and not brain.
So I decided not to waste my time anymore considering that I don't learn anything after 1 year.
It was a waste of my time joining here.
I'm young I need challenge and more $.
The culture here is so dead and old. Simple class component can be done in 3 hours at most. But the previous senior can spent 3 weeks on it.
And leave such a rotten code base. Intern level stuff.

Reminds me of an assistant principal engineer who joined us for lunch and forced us to team bonding..
Nobody in the team like him. During lunch he will talk big and big and big..
He drives..
But complained that he is low paid.
Our team just endure and we occasionally joked about who is going to entertain him during lunch.and everyone playing a game of who order food first etc. Last get to sit in front of that guy...
Team bonding happens naturally when there is a shared vision and work.
Just like you bond with other gamers.. You don't need to lunch with other gamers..
You just bond...
Here the culture of so called team bonding happened only like once a year.
Christmas or cny....
Its so fake since there is many opportunities for managers to bond with the team.
Example overtime la, or come to work early la.
Yet their sense of team bonding is dinner and dance etc.
And even in those events, they still have the hierarchy, vip tables etc to remind you that they are the important person and you are not...
Talk about lose touch.

Most places I work with lunch is late like 12 or 1.
Here lunch is like 1130 am, breakfast time but most ppl come back also by 1230 pm
BUT apparently, fresh grad doesn't know work ethics.
They go lunch from 1130 am to 2 pm everyday.
Until my boss today just made the admin to send email reminder that lunch is 45 min.
And they complaining and talking **** behind the back.
Some people don't know how to be tactful at work.
They complain that they see the seniors come back lunch at 130 pm
But they didn't see the senior only went lunch around 1245 pm... How could they when they are already outside lunch....
Its very fun working with fresh grad still with the "I'm a uni grad mentality, I can do whatever I want, I can go lecture if I like, I can stay up late as I like..."

However, if the bosses like the group, no such issue.

Think about it, some how kena eaten, if tender in January, March bonus will not be given despite still need to serve 2 months notice period which is March by then, and within this period youre still ST staff. 🤷🏻*♂️
