So my team is a software R&D supposed to innovate the business through use of machine learning, data analytics, algorithm, AI.

So we need to hire people with skillset in this area.
We can't seem to hire any.

So HR just sent one applicant with some resume that he have taken some analytics online course.
told my boss this candidate doesn't any relevant skillset.

Boss say give people chance. I told him I won't be available for interview.
Boss hired him.

2 weeks already.
This new guy totally not software trained. His past job also don't have any software backround.
So I ask the new guy how is he going to contribute to the team?

He said during the interview, the boss said the role is more on managing....

I. M. G.

SURE SO WE HIRE A E5 to manage us ah?
Our milestone is a viable software solution to solve a real world problem.

And the management solution is here I hire you a skillless nobody to help manage your work..

What a joke this company.
Where are all the data analytics. Data scientist? Big data analyst guru?

my team even more zai, develop software, hire all fresh grad. end up the product produce is like poly/uni project work. Coding also nv implement multiple user scenario. when it launch, the whole app crashed when 4-5 user is using the web page, it supposed to be handling few hundred to thousand of user online.

hardware also zai. promise client that their developed software is very efficient only use at most 5-10% of system resources. end up, they sell a server grade desktop, which have double xeon processor and 128gb ram to the client to use as customer service computer.....

Hi all. Since it's now 2022 and it's been about 3 years since the last listing (I think under post #259) of salaries of all positions, can we again list down our salaries? I'm really curious how wide the ranges are for the same positions. I shall insert 2 salaries below that I know of. Appreciate if you can list your salary and/or make any adjustments to the ranges below.

E5 - Engineer / Executive $3600-$5300
E6 - Senior Engineer / Senior Executive $4300-$6200
M1 - Assistant Principal Engineer / Assistant Manager $4800-$7500
M2 - Principal Engineer / Manager $5200-$9500
M3 - Senior Principal Engineer / Senior Manager $5800-$11500
M4 - AVP ? $10000 -
M5 - VP ?
M6 - SVP ?

My colleague went from M1 to M3 within 2 reorg cycle.
How can HR allow this when you have E6 who still haven't been promoted for 8 years and HR allow one staff to be promoted twice within 3 years??

If the boss likes him, anything is possible. I have seen someone going from E6 to M3 within 5 years.

This one is fresh grad lousy la.
Not sure why fresh grad starting pay for software is 5k.

Software takes years to hone the skills.
Uni doesnt teach those skills.
