That is why many of the ambitious young engineers left in a jiffy. Even if we don't talk about promotion, an engineer's pay will be lacking behind new hires the moment the next batch of students graduates. New hire basics jump more than existing staff annual increment.

What I experienced is more disgusting imo.
I left as a E5 with 5 years experience. Pay package was $4200 under the new scheme.
When they next advertised for the opening, they offered up to $6000, which is more than what I would have gotten even if I'm promoted 3 times within the 5 years.

It's a vicious cycle.
Existing staff don't get good pay cause senior management eat up all the profit.
New hire high pay cause Singaporean gone made and start offering high pay to fresh grad.
So new hire with 5k join dunno do anything.
4k 5 years exp ofc not happy la. So don't teach anything. Just push everything to the 5k.
New hire think he being bullied cause all the seniors do nothing. While he slaves away.
But new hire doesn't know their senior fresh grad pay is 2.5k work so many years now only 4 to 5 k.
While fresh grad entitlement.
So end up new hire quit. Senior keep their job with low pay and whine.. And dreaming about promotion and high pay.
Anything just hire new hire and sabo them.
That is ST in a nut shell.
And you endure all the abuse etc. Also no promotion.
Cause you already started with high pay.

People who work in ST only limited to 3 promotions their life time.
You think 3 times within 5 years?
You are entitled fresh grad la. Entitled fresh grad of 2015...

The fact that you are 4.2k same paid as E6 new hire at 4.2k means you are up for promotion to E6 the next round.
You should have waited one more year. But alas.

Higher base is always good.
Cause I have negotiate salary before.
And when I was in NCS the base is lower. But the bonus is like 3 months excluding aws.
I told the new job they don't believe. They just want to match my base pay...
Their reasoning is bonus is a variable. Not always 3 months. Which is true...
But ncs that time was paying lower base but higher bonus... To keep people for at least 1 year...
Anyway higher base is better. You don't have to slave for 12 months.
But it also means don't have to work hard. Cause you already get the higher paid every month without doing more...
That's why bonus works..
But since company want to give the illusion of higher pay but no aws.
Nobody going to stay the full year.
When the going gets tough... Then just quit. No need to hang it there until aws..
