And do they inform you whether you are rejected or not? I kinda applied directly thru an acquaintance near the start of the month and earlier in the week I was informed that they are still considering... (got inside news I failed the programming test from another acquaintance)

I would say you can expect maybe 5k to 5.8k range as a 10 years plus exp.
But if you join as a fresh grad you xna expect 5k above...
So yep there you have it... Join as fresh grad.

Don't join as 10 years exp.

I'm confused.
Are all M1 managers? Why is their title in email assistant principal engineer.

I've join here for 2 years and I have yet to come across a M1 that is technically strong in terms of architecture. Design philosophy, performance, scalability technique, etc

No wonder everyone want to be promoted in this company to M1 to just do paper work and schedules.

In my past company, those higher position have to lead the technology decision etc. Choice. Design. Justification of design. Training. Etc.

Here. I ask my M1 how they design for scalability example. All dunno. Look at me.
Hello. I'm E5 a lowly project engineer...

No wonder people avoid this company. All the useless one remained and promoted by length of service...
Just end up holding all the lead role but no skills to back it up.

Really sad and depressing.

You won't find capable engineers here.
Those in lead roles are just taking the pay for lead role but not really leading or guiding.

The fate is either you quit because you have enough or you taichi the **** to E5

Working in ST complex or outsourced to external organisations like DSTA, which is better?

Any experienced seniors can shed some light?

I thought the ecology is MINDEF instruct DSTA to do something. DSTA pay ST to do.

So by logic. Work for MINDEF better you can deal with incapable work quality from ST

Try explore working with external organization. See how they work and compare to ST working style.

U would able to appreciate the pros and cons working with ext org like DSTA side.

Also bear in mind you are not allow to disclose anything related to external org project during your appraisal, which in turn u wont get any high grade.

E5/E6/M1/M2/M3/M4/M5/M6....etc are just pay grade only

As compare to private sector, the real manager start at M3 pay grade "Manager" or "Principal Engineer".

"Manager" - Managerial role/track
"Principal Engineer" - Technical role/track
