Those working on maintenance losing money no prospect no promotion. Just leaking and slowly get smaller..

Again this culture stinks from the top.
Top want to get ahead. Their way to do so is to climb over each other
Top only care about kpi. Cause the investor and board of chairman demands it.

This company is basically just investors, senior management who reap the reward of all the engineers.
What's more shocking is... Get this... Directors are not engineers themselves. Business school. Accounting..

I'm like huh. Engineering company is not run by engineers one ah

I was flabbergasted when I knew a PM whose project bled a huge amount of money got promoted. He went against the warnings of all his development teams where the leads are of higher grade than him and made really bad decisions.

That was really when I realise that technical knowledge means nothing to the company.

I join in 2018 fresh grad E5
2018 - 3.5k
2019 - 3.6k
2020 - 3.8k

I quit end of 2020 during WFH covid period sick and tirrd or the low increment. While my peers are earning 5k fresh grad entry level.

I found a job I ask for 4.2k was offered 4.4k.

This company is good at suppressing your wage.
Join a smaller company. A less prestige company can even offer a higher salary cause they have business. While this big brand company can't even match your salary because their division are not making money..

ST have too many branches, too many overlapping division doing the same thing.
Why? Too many deadweight again.

It's good they are trying to reorg. But still it's just a name change. And a title change for some.
At the core, everything is still fundamentally the same.

Flawed.

The division I was with. All the outsource stayed as E5 for 4 to 5 years.
Only perm staff get promoted. Those E6 promoted to M1.

Those M1 promoted to M2.
Those M3 also promoted to M4.

All during the same time.
So don't be outsource in this company.
If you are outsource in this company, you are basically their slaves.
If things go wrong. Your contract Terminated.
If you do your job the project go successful with no hiccup. The perm staff M1 and M2 get promoted again.

It's very weird this company. Also end of 2019 senior managemenpt promise all outsource staff who have served more than 4 years will be "guess what" converted to "contract" lol.

I followed up with my boss early 2020 before covid. He said no budget to convert me to contract. Cause project haven't come in. Not signed etc.
Then covid hit. Prokect postponed I WFH.

Now phase 3 come back. All forgotten.
While my then boss senior principal engineer now already become director in jan 2021

Ywah everything ask me for update. Progress etc.
When I ask back then how is my employment status update etc.

All kind of ********.

Then behind my back my boss tell other boss that his division finance in trouble how to convert outsource staff to perm. So? Isn't that your job as director?

If the division don't make money. Can't survive. The first one to go is and should be the director cause they are the most expensive and they didn't deliver their job what...

No... It's the bottom E5 outsource that doesn't get their contract renewed.
Not to mention perm staff work every few year extra annual leave.

Where is my annual leave increment? They say already factored in the salary.
Where? Show me the calculation. My conferment yearly is just barely 2.5% no promotion.
What extra annual leave already count inside salary?

This is why ST staff all come work late. Eat snake. Drink tea then go home can nt be bothered.
Work so hard for other people to be promoted.

What a joke.

What's your job grade?

That's because the top are not engineers.
When you have top management all business man or military connection only.
They won't even realised if they have a Elon musk or bill Gates among their midst or a Zuckerberg.

Your increment was slightly better than mine. Your total increment was what I had for 5 years. Similar to your case, my jump to a smaller company got me an offer with increment and appropriate grade and responsibilities. Not the highest or pegged directly against the market rate, but at least it was more respectable than what ST offered.

One of my former colleagues once described the PMs and managers as mail man because all they do is to forward email to engineers and collect info to send customers.

But that's the job of project manager all along what.
And the industry paid managers more.

It's only recent years tech developers are highly paid and sought after due to presence of international tech company.

Why you think every Tom dick and Harry wants to be a manager.
High paid, brainless job. Paper work. Sign paper. Meeting also barely attend.

Everything just push to project engineer
