Once the major lines are up, not much need for so many engineers. Not everyone can be transferred into maintenance.
Don't talk rubbish.

The new project has not even started and the whole line will take about a decade to finish. Job secured for at least 10 more years.

Sounds more like the rails across the Causeway.

Think the point is it's also only 10 years. People who just started their career are going to have one for 20-30 years. Not 10.

If after 10 years your skills are in an industry that no longer needs you, then how? By then you will be too old for changing industries.

Let me tell you a secret. For contract staff, there are perm contracts still being offered after 3-4 years of service. If you are unaware of it that means that you are not one of the chosen ones

There are always contractor jobs available but LTA staff might not get used to the real construction instead of being in an authority role.

There is probably only the Seletar line left. But think about it the whole JRL/CRL/RTS/TEL/CCL teams will be fighting for a slice of the pie. Whoever wins will have job security for 10 more years otherwise good luck
