I joined as grade 12, $5200, with 3 years of experience too. After 3 years did not even go up to Grade 11 😑. That's why i left. My increment was $300, $460, then the company wide adjustment by $1000+

thx for sharing. we were in similar shoes joining as grade 12 with 5.2-5.3k.
i'm sorry to hear you remained at grade 11 after 3 years. out of curiosity, is it normal to not be able to promote after 3 years? how do other ppl who stay in MAS fare in this regard?
To get close to 7k with total 6 years of exp is very impressive actually. Where did you join after MAS?
And what is this $1000+ company-wide adjustment about?

The usual increment for junior to mid level officers is indeed 200-400 per annum. The wider review which saw very significant increment was the last review to make sure MAS pay can keep up with the private sector. That's the official reason but the reality is that the low increment and bonus for covid year backfired badly and MAS suffered a brain drain. It is just not in the news
There is no guarantee moving from grade 12 to 11 within a certain period of time. Most, if not all move up to G11 after 3 to 5 years in G12. It will be another 4-6 years in G11 before moving to G10 which is a Deputy Director designation.
I would say focus on the pay. If you think you are not paid enough for your work and experience you bring , then move on. 6 years exp 7k is probably norm or even below average for FIs. FIs are more than just your well known banks. They include small unknown asset management or FA outfits.

For some reason, suddenly there was a more than $1000 increment given to everyone in 2022 bc of the complaints about low pay and many people resigning. I guess my redesignation would be slower bc i have a 2nd lower only. One of my ex colleagues (1987) left MAS as a grade 11 AD and found a new job in a bank as a VP. The youngest colleague that got redesignated to DD was born in 1989. I'm born in 1993, for reference.
I found a job in the US that was US70k a year but entry level doing payroll processing. I really wanted a change of environment.

Oh dear, sad to hear that, looks like career progression for mid-career is pretty bad. How is the work culture in MAS, is it also relatively unpleasant? was thinking of a mid-career switch.
