Fresh grads get to be redesignated to grade 12 within 3 years. But i also see some mid career still get offered grade 12 with 9 years of experience, maybe they did not have local degree, im not sure, i didnt ask bc that guy is my teammate and he still has to attend the MAS Diploma courses which is compulsory for fresh grad up to grade 12. That's how i know what is his grade.

My colleague recently got promoted to grade 10, she is born in 1988. So that's about 10 years of experience? But i also seen a guy only got promoted to grade 10 when he's 43. Another female colleague got grade 11 (mid career), with 8 years of experience.

Does one need a First Class or Second Upper to join as a mid career hire?

I have a second lower and i got offered. But my strategy is to apply for a less popular department, and I got relevant experience.

Thanks for the info! Can I ask, do fresh grad get accelerated/more exposure opportunities quicker than mid hires. Seems as though the fresh grad recruitment process is rather stringent.

Yes the process for fresh grads is more stringent. I believe it may be bc when applying as a mid career for a specific role, you're competing with mostly internal transfers. That's why experience matters. But all fresh grads also happen to be similar in calibre (similar GPA, internship, but no full time experience), so what differentiates them is the interview. Afaik, only scholars get more exposure but they don't get redesignated faster. Still have to serve the 3 years as Associate first. But they have higher potential, meaning one day they can become division heads and above.

Just wondering in MAS, which teams are the most tough or chiong - Economics Policy, Markets Development or Supervision roles! Hearsay some teams have a really bad work life balance.
